Local news just showed a picture of him in the back of a police cruiser. He was clean shaven which seems odd since he was supposedly out in the woods for 48 days. He could easily gotten hold of shaving supplies in an empty hunting cabin or vacation home. It could also point to some assistance he received.

Let’s repeat that - captured alive without a shot fired.

Pretty stark contrast to what happened in Ferguson with Michael Brown, let alone all the other excessive force cases nationally where officer-involved shootings led to fatalities.

And this guy was a cop killer. He was a domestic terrorist who targeted cops, and yet brought in without a shot fired.

Kudos to the team that took him in.

Police departments around the nation ought to learn from that.

Local news says that the hangar was at an old resort - Birchwood Resort. It’s listed as being in Tannersville, which is also more populated than the main search area.

Just saw another picture of him in the back of a police cruiser.

Backing up lawhawk’s point, he seems to have a large cut on the bridge of his nose but otherwise seems to be in decent condition.

He is being brought back to the Blooming Grove state police barracks which is where the shooting took place. Also, he was cuffed using the handcuffs that belonged to the dead trooper.

Just hearing that he was found with rifles and ammunition but surrendered peacefully.

Supposed to be a press conference at 11 local time. I doubt they’ll give too much actually interesting information. Our illustrious Gov. Corbett is expected to be there. I guess that’s the reason for the delay - waiting for Corbett to get there so he can try to get some credit.

Quick take aways from the press conference:

- Damn, politicians love to talk. Most law enforcement spoke about 30 seconds each, just quick thanks to all involved. The county DA spoke a good three minutes. DA says he will seek death penalty (can’t wait too long to show how tough he is).
- He was captured about 6PM local time in an open field outside the hangar.
- US Marshals saw him, ordered him to his knees, he complied and admitted his identity.
- A reporter noted that he was clean shaven and asked if they thought he might have been helped. Response was that they have no indication of that at this time.
- They will be executing search warrants on a couple of locations including the hangar. If they know what’s inside they aren’t saying.
- He had something to say upon his capture but the State Police are leaving that for the DA to talk about at some later time.
- Local residents appear to be using Frein’s capture as an excuse to get drunk in the local bars.
- Trick or treat is back on for the kids tomorrow in the main search area which was actually a decent distance from where he was actually caught.

Not to disagree with you but we had this local manhunt that was nothing short of a police panic. He had a hit list skills and guns. Christopher Dorner. Hopefully a lesson was learned. Maybe.
